“The things we fear in life often lead to our
greatest adventures.”
- Coyote Peterson
This book is dedicated to the Coyote Pack; without each and every one of you, these Brave Adventures would not be possible. To my crew for their fearless ability to break trail into the wild where they somehow follow me with cameras. To my incredible family for their never-ending belief that impossible dreams can come true.
“Adventure changes you - needless to say following Coyote Peterson with my camera has changed me. Together we have journeyed through scorching deserts, perilous swamps and forests so dense each step requires the swing of a machete… yet with each step I always find myself more inspired than the one before it. That’s why true adventure never ends.”
- Mark Laivins
Director of Brave Wilderness
“Creating wildlife segments with Coyote Peterson and the crew has given me the chance to get up close with some of the most amazing animals on earth while experiencing the reality of my childhood dreams… to become a wildlife professional spreading awareness and passion to the next generation. For that I am grateful.”
- Mario Aldecoa
Brave Wilderness Wildlife Producer
“Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would have some of the life experiences and animal encounters that I have had working with Coyote. His ambition and contagious enthusiasm pushes all of us to some truly amazing places… now it’s your turn!”
- Chance Ross
Brave Wilderness Videographer
“Coyote’s idea of vacation is camping on an …extremely-snake infested island… in the middle of Lake Erie, catching snakes and seeing which bite him… for science of course. I’ve been witnessing him do this for over a decade now. What more can I say?”
- Chris Kost
Brave Wilderness Editor

To the Parents…
My name is Coyote Peterson, and for as long as I can remember I have been absolutely fascinated with animals. As a child, I spent a great deal of my time exploring the woods behind the house where I grew up in the small town of Newbury, Ohio, and it was those experiences that provided me with the perfect backdrop to develop my sense of love and passion for adventure. Every day, from sunup to sundown, I was on the search for frogs, snakes, turtles and pretty much any other creature that I could observe or hopefully catch.
These early adventures of mucking around in swamps and ponds led me down an inspiring path of amazement and curiosity for the natural world. Every week my mom would take me to the public library where I could scour countless books to help me unlock the mysteries of these incredible animals I was finding, and from there, my thirst for knowledge about wildlife became insatiable. I would check one book out, read it, return it, and get another one. To me, books were fantastic and enlightening; they became my imagination’s guide to the great outdoors and everything that the world had to offer.
However, I will never forget discovering animal adventure shows on television. I couldn’t believe it… these people were doing the same thing I was doing in my own backyard, but they were traveling all over the world! Instead of catching frogs and turtles, they were catching crocodiles, anacondas, and even swimming with great white sharks!
