      Wait, that’s allowed?

Writing a book was a whole journey I dared to embark on for a year. But knowing me, you shouldn’t be surprised that I’m also releasing an animated film alongside it.

By combining complexity with simplicity, adulthood with childhood, text with images, I aim to fully immerse you in the essence of The Girl Who Dared.

In this book, you’ll find tried-and-true tools that helped me transform my mindset, income level, and scope of business within a year. It could have been an unemotional manual listing what to do and how, but every project I undertake includes not only the essence but also layers of meaning to captivate your attention.

QR codes, illustrations, animation, and design – every seriously minded adult should learn to be fascinated by the world and try new things.

All I can do is wish you an enjoyable journey and a captivating read. See you in the pages of this book.

      Prologue

“Live your life” – three simple words that hold the secret of humanity. Years pass by amid miles of social media posts, the race for a “success story”, and the desire to prove your worth to others. With them fades the sense of your true self, genuine desires and purpose. We forget how to feel like our authentic selves. We forget how to live our own lives.

In the daily hustle, people hear their inner voice less and less, their true desires muffled. Why? Because there’s always a push for bigger, faster, more creative and “unique” – yet the specifics remain elusive in a world of clip mentality [1].

I am someone who lives at very high speeds. Yet, even I reached a point where my thoughts became tangled, my inner state restless, and something whispered, “It’s time for change. It’s time to change everything.”

It was time to pause, take a breath and understand where I was going, why, how long for, and for what purpose – what part of my multifaceted life was truly ABOUT ME?

If this book has found you consider it a gift from fate, the universe, or higher powers – whichever resonates with you. By reading it, you will already take a step toward yourself, initiating an irreversible process of decisions, actions and opportunities that will likely lead you to your Point B. And for those who can turn theory into practice it’s a ticket to their dream life – business class, non-stop.

This book isn’t about a life story (you won’t find that here). This book is about a person who fell and got back up, someone who ended up in millions of dollars of debt from a single miscalculation yet always believed in herself and her dreams.

Just imagine for a second that you’re in a session with a therapist. What verbs would you use to describe yourself in your own life? An experienced professional could identify one of the reasons your goals remain on pause, falling into the category of “it’d be nice to have a house by the sea and maybe a small car.”

“To listen and to hear”, “to look and to see” are pairs of verbs that have similar meanings yet are fundamentally different. Everyone must determine for themselves whether they are in the passive stage of “listening and looking” or the active one of “hearing and seeing.”

In this book, I’ll explain why it’s essential to feel your life. Each chapter reveals a method that has become a part of my journey from Point A to Point B. Six truths, six principles that helped a girl who couldn’t even afford a loaf of bread reach a point where she travels across Europe, Australia, and Asia, easily builds friendships and professional relationships and designs her life exactly as she wants.

Everyone creates their own recipe for life – so why not borrow a few ingredients from mine?

      Chapter I

      Certainty

The overarching idea is to bring certainty to the masses.

Who am I? What defines me? Where am I heading? What do I want and do not want?

Imagine for a moment that our world is dual, and every action can be categorized as either “good” or “bad.” From this general sense of certainty an individual certainty emerges when a person consistently makes the right choices. They know exactly what is “yes” and what is “no.” There’s no doubt, no inner tension. They develop naturally: having gained critical mass at their level by making the right choices they undergo a quantum leap to the next level.

But there’s a second path – the path of uncertainty and doubt. If someone is stuck in the swamp of fears and confusion, they are highly likely to make flawed choices, stray far from their essence, and eventually see their entire system collapse like a house of cards.

Certainty is a state where a person knows clearly where he or she is going and why. It’s what will help people navigate life in the new world – the world we’ve all already transitioned into.

We’ve entered an era of speed, where people must feel themselves from within and answer honestly: Who am I? What defines me? Where am I heading? What do I want and do not want? This is the time to become your own filter, transitioning from being a mere conduit to a transmitter.

I am Yulia Kolomina. At one point I found clarity on every level of my being through numerous transformations, sessions with specialists and life lessons. I’ve developed clear filters and a worldview that help me answer daily questions and choose between a “yes” and a “no.” Now I feel the strength and desire to share my thoughts with the world, to express this.

When you know exactly what you want from the world, the world gives it to you – even if it doesn’t seem so at first. To see this in action, read up on the theory of red cars. In brief, recall how many red cars you noticed last time you were out. One? Three? Maybe none? Now imagine you were rewarded handsomely for spotting every red car. Do you think you’d have counted more?

The same goes for opportunities that literally fly past us. When a person is uncertain, they face two scenarios:

      1) Failing to notice these fleeting opportunities.

      2) Grasping at every opportunity, without discerning whether it truly resonates.

Of course, trying something new is always exciting. But, as I always say, if you want something, at least start breathing in the direction of your desire, goal or dream.

The Girl Who Dared is my story! The story of a free-spirited, jazzing Yulia Kolomina.

Why should you read my first book? – And why not?!

I fell down and rose up, felt sadness and sought reasons to be happy. I’ve learned to believe, savor life, live in the moment, and, finally, I found myself. If I could do it, so can anyone who picks up this book.

So, without further ado – let’s go! Ahead lies a year that completely transformed my life, along with decisions that drove changes during different phases of my growth. I believe that is a good reason to dive in!

The timeline of my year always begins with my birthday. And so, the first day of my 31st year arrived. It was raining outside. I was lying under a blanket with a fever of 102°F and the clear realization that I could finally exhale. All my unresolved issues were behind me.

At 31, I was a grown woman – free of obligations, forgiving my parents for all childhood misadventures, and loving and appreciating them. Perhaps I needed to “suffer through” that day to exhale and move forward, to broaden my horizons. After all, I’d thoroughly studied myself inside and out.

Clip mentality is a type of consciousness in which a person processes information through short formats and vivid images, quickly shifting from one piece of information to another due to a superficial level of engagement with its essence. – Author’s note
