ctures and maps on the walls. There are about twenty desks in every classroom. Besides, there is a teacher’s table standing near the window and a blackboard hanging on the wall. There are computers and some other up-to-date equipment in some classrooms. However, there are no bookcases, but the school has a large library where we can find any book we need.
There are 20 students in my class. We go to school six days a week. Lessons start at 8.30, but the timetable is not always fixed, it can be changed from time to time. We usually have five or six lessons a day and a big break for lunch between the second and the third ones. Each lesson lasts forty five minutes. At 2 o’clock in the afternoon the lessons are over and we go home.
There are many good traditions in our school. My favourites are the Day of Knowledge and the last bell holiday. On these days we usually have parties where we exchange our impressions of the last summer holidays and make plans for the future.
1. Школьная жизнь
Я ученик и я хожу в школу, которая находится недалеко от моего дома. Она не очень большая, но светлая и чистая. В школе четыре этажа, на каждом из которых много хорошо оборудованных классов. На первом этаже находятся гардероб, спортивный зал и столовая. Перед школой есть большая спортивная площадка.
Все классы удобные и довольно просторные. На стенах вы можете видеть портреты знаменитых людей, картины и карты. В каждом классе примерно 20 парт. Около окна стоит учительский стол, на стене висит школьная доска. В некоторых классах имеются компьютеры и другое современное оборудование. Правда, в классах нет книжных шкафов, но в школе есть большая библиотека, где можно найти любую нужную книгу.
В моём классе 20 учеников. Мы занимаемся 6 дней в неделю. Уроки начинаются в 8.30, однако расписание не всегда является постоянным, время от времени оно может меняться. Каждый день у нас обычно 5 или 6 уроков и большая обеденная перемена между вторым и третьим уроками. Каждый урок длится 45 минут. В 2 часа дня уроки заканчиваются и мы идём домой.
У нашей школы много хороших традиций. Мои любимые праздники – День знаний и праздник последнего звонка. В эти дни у нас проводятся вечеринки, на которых мы обмениваемся своими впечатлениями о проведённых летних каникулах и делимся планами на будущее.
2. A friend in need is a friend indeed
Everyone knows that friendship is very important in our life. A lot of people think that they have many friends, but I’m absolutely sure not all of them are your real friends.
The word “friend” has a very special meaning. We can call friends only those people who mean a lot to us, who will give advice whenever we need it, whom we can trust our secrets, who will help us if we are in trouble and what is especially important, who will not turn away if we have good luck. At first sight, the last statement may seem to be strange, but even our close friends sometimes may be envious of us. This feeling – envy – is one of the most serious reasons of quarrels between best friends.
I have got a very good friend. Her name is Ann. We met when we were 5 years old and since then we have been the best friends. It is strange, but our tastes are different.
Most of all I value Ann’s honesty. I can fully trust her, even if her opinion doesn’t coincide with mine. The second thing is her remarkable sense of humour. So far I have never met such a person who could make my mood better in any situation. Ann always supports me in any beginning. Even if something goes wrong, she persuades me not to give up.
In fact, it is very difficult to find a real friend but when this person appears in your life, you realize that it is a great happiness.
2. Друг познаётся в беде
Все знают, что дружба очень важна в нашей жизни. Многие люди считают, что у них есть много друзей, но я абсолютно уверена, что не все они являются настоящими друзьями.
Слово «друг» имеет весьма определённое значение. Друзья – это только те люди, которые очень много для нас значат: те, кто даст совет всякий раз, когда он нам необходим; те, кому мы можем доверить свои секреты; те, кто придёт нам на помощь, если мы попали в беду, и, что особенно важно, не отвернётся от нас, если нам повезёт. На первый взгляд, последнее утверждение может показаться странным, но даже близкие друзья могут иногда позавидовать нам. Это чувство – зависть – порой становится одной из серьёзнейших причин ссор между лучшими друзьями.
У меня есть очень хорошая подруга. Её зовут Аня. Мы познакомились, когда нам было по пять лет, и до сих пор мы остаёмся лучшими друзьями. Это странно, но у нас абсолютно разные вкусы.
Больше всего я ценю в Ане честность. Я могу полностью ей доверять, даже если её мнение не совпадает с моим. А ещё у Ани замечательное чувство юмора. До сих пор я никогда не встречала такого человека, который мог бы поднять мне настроение в любой ситуации. Аня всегда поддерживает меня в любых начинаниях. Даже если у меня что-то не получается, подруга убеждает меня не сдаваться.
Безусловно, настоящего друга очень сложно обрести. Но когда такой человек появляется в твоей жизни, ты понимаешь, что это огромное счастье.
3. Books in my life
I like reading very much and I can’t imagine our life without books. They teach us to recognize what is right and what is wrong. Books play a great role in forming our life values and characters. They also give us an opportunity to look into the past or into the future, using our imagination. Besides, they help us in our self-education.
When I have some spare time, I usually spend it with a book. I like to read detective stories about Sherlock Holmes written by Arthur Conan Doyle, adventure books, like “Oliver Twist” written by Charles Dickens, and poetry. As for historical novels, I find them less interesting and rather dull.
After reading an interesting book I always try to find out if there is a film based on this book. If there is any, I try to see it by all means, compare it with the book and make my own opinion of the heroes. It is always very interesting to find some difference between a film and a book.
Books must be our friends during all our life. I’m sure there is no situation in life which is not described in this or that literary work. That is why books help us to find solutions to any problems and answers to any questions. And now it’s only up to you to choose what book to read next.

Я очень люблю читать и не могу представить себе нашу жизнь без книг.
