How to Hide Your Cat From The Landlord is a practical and spiritual guide to living in harmony with a compatible feline in smaller spaces.
The first edition of this publication was written and published several years ago with the assistance of my former webmaster. Following numerous requests on our Confessions of a Cat Breeder web site we realized there was little information available on this important cat related subject. My notes were drafted into the original document appropriately entitled “How to Hide Your Cat From the Landlord.” Now given the opportunity to fully address and expand on the material our second edition will be more complete and written in greater detail. Following requests from our valued readers I wish to enhance on this popular area of interest and further elaborate on additional issues that surface within the feline/renting scenario.
Having concealed my feline family for over 30 years I have acquired an expertise with this subject matter. While reading this publication you will discover that my approach differs from those found in other cat related books. As a Feline Behavior Consultant, I have assembled a combination of intriguing and useful facts relating to those renting and unable to part with a beloved cat. For others wishing to welcome a kitten or an adult feline into their home I also address these areas with insights gained from my years as a Registered Cat Breeder. Additionally, with this information you will have the necessary confidence to remain content while residing with your feline in a rental property.
There are two likely scenarios involved when hiding your cat from the Landlord:
1) Presently you own a cat and wish to move into a pet restricted residence.
2) Your current home has a ‘pet restriction’ clause but it is your desire to welcome a feline into your life.
Cat lovers in a long-term relationship with their pet will encounter unknown issues when first concealing their feline in a rental property. If you have been renting your home for an extended period and are now seeking feline companionship we advise of many details that should be addressed prior to your kitten’s homecoming. Providing daily care for your kitten will simply become an addition to your present routine. Should you wish to welcome a kitten into your life and presently reside in a pet restricted residence then consider your journey started by reading this publication. Every cat has a story with each owner encountering a unique experience.
Having lived with both adult felines and new kittens in various rental properties I have acquired personal knowledge of many situations confronting tenants. You will discover how to cope with the daily stresses involved when hiding your cat and how to minimize them. With a new kitten you can expect various changes to occur within your household. We suggest how you may adjust your current lifestyle to benefit your personal well-being and that of your treasured cat. The adoption of a grieving feline following the loss of their owner will also be examined. If you are residing in a rental home with pet restrictions you may have conflicting emotions regarding such a commitment.
I unexpectantly inherited two domestic felines from a dear friend following her death. With time I came to appreciate how deeply cats remain committed to their original owner when such a loss occurs. Everyone processes grief in
