For at least the last sixty years, I have been blessed with a wide variety of teachers and friends who have sharpened my curiosity and knowledge. All of them have contributed to my interest in practical, safe, and effective approaches to health. In medical school, it was Dr. Talmage Peele and Dr. Eugene A. Stead, Jr. In surgery, it was Dr. Carl Moyer. Then, in 1972, the inspiration of Drs. Bill and Gladys McGarey led me to the A.R.E., where the Cayce readings, Dr. Lindsay Jacob, and Dr. Genevieve Haller broke open my consciousness to the broad fields of Holistic and Energy Medicine. And of course Dr. Elmer Green has been the greatest mentor and friend in the field of Energy Medicine for the past thirty-nine years.
Reverend Henry Rucker, Dr. Robert Leichtman, and Caroline Myss have provided tremendous knowledge and experience in the field of intuition. Buck Charlson provided support for many of my major research projects and discoveries. Dr. Saul Liss opened my eyes to the more subtle aspects of electromedicine. Dr. Bill Tiller helped me understand the subtle nature of imprinting and intent. And because of the known and unknown guides and angels from whom I download all my discoveries, I now understand that I am merely a channel for the information. Over the past seven or eight years, Deena Spear and Marianne Anderson have opened my consciousness to the broadest field of all, the illusion that we call reality. And of course, over 30,000 patients have allowed me to explore the many tools that I have developed and adopted to assist them.
Needless to say, none of my work would have been possible without the steady support and nurturing of my wife, Mary-Charlotte.
Jody Trotter has been a major organizing support for twenty-nine years, transcribing my often less-than-optimal musings and finding all the missing links. And, of course, this book would have been far less organized and understandable without the editorship of Jon Robertson.
My gratitude to all!
Foreword
If you want to know someone who all his life hoped to find out everything about “energies”—physical, emotional, mental, spiritual—and how we can activate them for health, these chapters are for you. In addition, they are an autobiographical adventure story, for Norman Shealy almost always tested the energies himself. For instance, when we were investigating psychic surgeons in Manila and surrounding territory, he allowed himself to be a subject—something that Alyce and I didn’t want to experience. After all, if a so-called “spiritual healer” can insert a hand into your body and stroke your heart, as Neo did for Trinity when she was wounded by gunshot in The Matrix Reloaded, would you, as a medical investigator, allow yourself to be the “experimental subject” as well? Norman did—and the reason was, and still is, that he “personally” wanted to test everything that was said to be therapeutic whenever he had a chance. Fortunately, certain “chances,” such as open-heart surgery, seldom come.
The first few chapters of this book will be news for non-medical people, but the chapters on acupuncture, electrotherapy, and forward will have “news” of the Edgar-Cayce type for everyone. After all, we are
