I want to thank my editor Lucy Cabezas for doing what I could not to finish the polishing of this book. You are a dear friend and a joy to work with. It is your attention to detail, and no nonsense style that makes you a great editor. Keep doing what you are doing.

      Thank You

You are about to embark on one of the easiest ways to set goals, get what you want, and get where you are going with those goals in life.

I wrote this book with people just like you and I in mind. I am in the market of helping people with a straight forward and easy to understand style of explaining the key elements in moving forward with your goals.

There was a time in my life that I was struggling with finances and depression. I had no idea what I was going to do. I was newly divorced; I had given everything to my ex-wife and drove away with just a car and clothes.

I met a woman, we moved in together, but I had no job, and struggled to make ends meet.

We rented a studio apartment with our two cats, and a load of stuff, which she had collected.

I had no job, and we had no privacy and no money to do much of anything. Although she worked hard to bring in money for food and some bills, I was relying on unemployment.

I would lay awake at night in constant turmoil asking God to take me away from it all.

I struggled with myself, and pleaded that God either take me away, or bless me.

Then it was as if by magic or that God Himself had whispered a plan in my ear about what to do.

I had an epiphany about what to do.

It came to me that I could not just wish things to be resolved. I had to plan, and take action to get things done.

You do not accomplish by “wishing” but by planning.

I got out of bed, and started making a list of things to do.

I made a list of all the jobs that might be in the area.

I started applying for any job I could find.

I started working with a company, calling around the United States doing surveys, as a temporary worker.

My hard work paid off by becoming a full time benefited employee.

I was then able to move out of the studio and into a large one-bedroom apartment.

Next on my list was to contact my ex-wife and sell the condominium that was in my name.

During my sleepless nights, I wondered how I could have left her with a two-bedroom condominium, fireplace, and a big screen TV, while I was living in a studio watching a 19-inch TV.

I contacted her pleading to sell the condominium and move into some other residence.

She refused, until I pointed out that she was not making the payments that she agreed upon doing in our divorce.

I have to tell you that there were many heated discussions over this. During this time, I learned to write a very convincing letter to keep my creditors from harassing me.

She finally gave in at the last minute and I sold the condominium for a fraction of what it was worth.

She wrecked the place, and ruined my credit, but I sold the place for a slight profit, enough to pay off past doctor’s bills, and many expenses.

The next step was to get a job in the field that I spent over ten years doing. I am a Computer Technician, and for me to be calling around doing phone surveys, was not going to work.

Now that I was settled, had some cash, felt some major relief, I could concentrate on my career again.

I began searching for careers in my field and found a phone support position with a company that I felt I could handle. I then applied for a position at Time Warner Cable, and now am a Technical Specialist with a major company.

So whether you believe in a “Higher Power” or not, reaching your goals will always begin with a want, followed by a plan. Then you must take action to get where you want to go.

You can rest assured that while I write this book to help you along your way, I write from experience, not just book smarts.

I write from the heart and from my experiences.

I became a Certified Personal Finance Counselor, but mostly I obtained the real-life knowledge needed to help people through actually going through what most people suffer today.

I know that you will find this book to be very educational, and if you follow it, you will be successful in finding your goals and wants.

I have developed a simple program, which I call the “Plan of Action”, which has served me well.

I have included writing on all major subjects that you may have questioned.

I have started four businesses. I will continue to strive in reaching my goals and wants.

I have been in the technical industry for over 17 years.

I write technical data, as well as copywriter.

I am a published Author with many more books in the works.

I write; that is what I do.

I have worked with companies like Time Warner Cable, SkillStorm, and Sperian/Honeywell.

I am a member of The Professional Writers Alliance.

I am also a member of American Writers & Artists Inc.

I graduated from the Penn Foster Writing School.

I study with some of the top Copywriters in the nation.

I have written numerous technically specific pieces and newsletters.

I have also been successful designing copywriter material for companies.

I will always be helping people with their “roadblocks” in life. I just believe that, as humans, we should always be helping, and passing along knowledge to each other.

My first book entitled Diary of a Schizophrenic comedian/The Unedited Version is a true-life self-help book mainly for parents and teens.

So read on and you will find a plethora of information about goal setting, and nurturing your goals into fertile fields. Always remember: It is our Wants, not our wishes, which move us to where we want to be.

P.S. Remember, it all started from a stuffy, small studio apartment, with nothing but bills.
