Biography of Sonia E. Russell, LPN
I am a nurs
e with over 14 years of clinical experience and was trained at UCLA Medical Center in California. As a professional hCG diet coach, I have researched and tested the 800 calorie protocol on thousands of patients in the clinical setting over the past 5 years. I co-developed the modified 800 calorie protocol with a team of physicians. Our intention was to provide the dieter with a safer, more comfortable plan. We believed adding breakfast, along with additional protein and vegetables options, could produce the same, if not better, weight loss results when compared to the original 500 calorie VLCD. The protocol also includes many improvements to the original phase 3 stabilization plan by the removal of certain foods that many dieters have been known to overindulge upon.In 2007, my medical team and I began our internal testing and food trial studies on the 800 calorie plan with our patients in the clinical setting. Additionally, in 2010 a 6-week successful clinical study was performed by the American Society of Bariatric Physicians ASBP on the modified 800 plan.

In May 2011, I published our findings in my book developed specifically for the hCG dieter entitled, HCG Diet 800 Calorie Protocol. The 800 calorie protocol has indeed been proven safer, more comfortable, and in most cases yielded higher losses when compared to the original 500 VLCD.
I am also a co-author of the book entitled, The Best Diet You Have Never Heard Of - Physician Updated 800 Calorie hCG Diet Removes Health Concerns. This book was written by medical professionals for the prescribing practitioner to utilize as a higher standard for Rx hCG weight loss therapy prescribed off label for weight loss.
In 2011, I teamed up with personal fitness trainer, Candice Ekberg, B.S. ESS, NSCA-CPT, AEMT to create an expanded guide that will ensure the dieter a successful stabilization in phase 3 entitled, Phase 3 HCG Diet: Successful Stabilization Plan Revealed. Our purpose was to eliminate the need for chronic correction days, unnecessary additional rounds and help teach dieters how to keep the weight off for good. Why was the ‘original’ 500 calorie hCG Diet Protocol modified?
Recently in the news and on many popular morning talk shows, the hCG diet has been stirring up quite a bit of debate as to its safety. A large majority of medical professionals who practice traditional weight loss avoid treating their weight management patients with hCG therapy because they feel it is unsafe at 500 calories per day. There are very few doctors nationally who prescribe the hormone to their patients.
Many dieters have claimed to be weak, tired, and complain of hunger and frequent headaches on 500 calories, but have plenty of energy on the 800 without the hunger or headaches. Many report they have lost hair on 500 calories, but not on the 800 calorie plan. Dieters have also reported they have been able to lose the same if not better on the 800 and have maintained their weight loss. Those who have chosen the 800 Calorie Protocol feel it is a safer, more healthful plan. Many physicians agree and have begun incorporating the hCG diet 800 Calorie Protocol in their weight management practices.
There is so much more to the protocol revision than just adding 300 calories. These additional calories are mostly from protein sources.. Breakfast is included in the program in addition to specific nutritional supplements, more allowable foods to choose from, and more often. The 800 Calorie Protocol does not allow any canned or processed foods, fat free/sugar free store bought foods or products that contain antibiotics, preservatives, flavor enhancers, pesticides, sugar substitutes, corn syrups, herbicides, or hormones.
The obesity epidemic in America is outrageous and it is not the only country dealing with this issue. My belief is that the HCG Diet 800 Calorie Protocol will help more Americans, and hCG dieters across the globe, to lose weight safely and assist in reducing weight related disease. Positive reports on the benefits of this protocol have already come in from hCG dieters in Canada, Ireland, and the UK.
This protocol will teach the dieter how to change their past eating habits by learning the healthiest ways to grocery shop, read food labels, prepare and cook healthier foods.
Introduction
The hCG Diet: What is it?
The hCG diet was discovered by a British endocrinologist, Dr. A.T.W. Simeons, who was always looking for cures for current-day medical problems.
Dr. Simeons had already pioneered an anti-malaria drug and studied bubonic plague and leprosy in India when he turned his attention to weight-loss and obesity in the 1950’s.
One day, a woman came to his office in Rome for a weight-loss consultation. He was on the phone as she sat down and when he looked up at her, he noticed she was emaciated. Her skin was dry and loose, her collarbone and ribs protruding. He hung up the phone and was about to tell her she had the wrong doctor when she stood up. “I know you think I’m mad, but just wait.”
As she rounded his desk, he saw that she had enormous hips and thighs below her small waist.
Dr. Simeons had studied a hormone called hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin). hCG is produced in the placenta of pregnant
