My life as a young girl and adulthood—its struggles and the things that happened. I feel that this book will benefit a lot of adults that could identify with my life. I’m sharing some of my knowledge and advice; these will offer you solutions to your problems if yours were similar to mine. I give thanks to my God because he’s been with me every step of my life, guiding me and protecting me. I also want to thank a lot of people who inspired me.
I’m an insurance agent. While I’m waiting to get my license, I’m currently working at the Hyatt Hotel for the past year as a security of and these are the people who inspired me—my children, Michelle, Patricia, Noemy, Joshuah—because everything that I have done well is because I want them to feel proud of me.
There are also different people whom I have encountered, like the young man whom I met at work with his love for God, Walter. Like what I’m going to say later on in the book I want to be in my beginning. I used to love God, too, with all my heart, but temptations made me walk away from his presence. This guy is a bellman in the hotel. The guy is a very hard worker, self-motivated, family-oriented, and very friendly. I have to say that he is one of the people who inspired me in this hotel, his vibe and much more. I also like that he reminds me of myself when I was so young and fast. He’s a very nice kid.
Also Brian is a quiet young guy, very reserved, and he looks very mature for his age. Another supervisor was Austin, who is an older man and quite respectful. Grace, my other supervisor, is very down-to-earth, so I like working with these people. Also ladies, Dominic, Rosalba were very nice girls, fun to work with. Also Shawn and Steven, I find them very mature for their age. His girlfriend, Shana, in the bar, Tim, Chack, Jason (very quiet guy), his girlfriend, Bianca. People in the PBS department—Leslie, Lisa, and Mabely. From the housekeeping department, I like them all—Ms. Didi Eva, Latoya (a little weird personality but also all right), Richard (a very happy guy from the Philippines), Kiki, Michelle, Ronel, Paul (the account manager), and Paul (from the bar). So many people that work together to make this happen. Laura, the concierge, an older woman who stays in the work field that keeps her going; also a concierge at Hyatt, Jay, a young guy who always has a nice smile and good attitude and is very fun to talk to; Fred, the big boss; also Tom, very nice, really down-to-earth, always saying hello; the engineer Brian; and Ruben. I got to say, I didn’t like him but in life, you have to learn to accept the way people are. And I like everyone.
Moving forward. Excuse me, but this is a book for adults because I’m coming very raw. I want to tell you what really happened and not sugarcoat anything in my past. I also want to give you some of my experiences with guys: what to do or not to do so they don’t get cold feet. I’ll tell you the little tricks you can do to keep a man interested in you and not be a turnoff. And vice versa. I’ll be telling how you can have a successful relationship.
A little history from Hugo Melo and his family. He has a cousin named Algerie. I wanted to apologize to Dennia in this book. I have to say all this time, I couldn’t find a friend like you. And Manny, Kathy Mendez, her cousin. My nieces Katherine and Lorellys (their kids). We had some good times together as a family. How can I forget about them?
All these people have inspired me one way or another. Their lives meant to me; that’s why when people try to mess up my memories, it bothers me so much because I want to remember them with good thoughts. I’m acknowledging you guys in public. My cousin Katiusca. Morena’s her nickname. She was the first person who I shared that I was in love. That’s why I’m putting you in my book. You were part of my beginnings. I still love her and the others: my sisters and brothers; Judith; also Carolina Matos, a good friend; her brother Emil; and so many people that without asking me for cash, took me in her house when I was a teenager in a time when I needed help. Jacqueline, Elizabeth, Roxy, Ronny, and Ruben and from my dad’s second marriage, Carlos, Manuel, Sandra, Mayerline, my stepbrother’s junior—these are all my siblings.
My love for Hugo happened at a very young age. What happened if I still feel this way? I’m going to answer all these questions. Another thing: people who want to be competitive because they feel some type of insecurity, I don’t want to compete with anyone. I strongly believe that everyone has their own talent, so discover yours. In this book, I’m taking you in my journey. You are going to know what I did wrong, where I was, and where I want to be in life. In other words, learn from my mistakes and became a better person. Now, you going to know a little more about how I fell in love with Hugo at such a young age, me dating other people, and a little of my experiences with men.
