Luke is a very brave little boy, but

when night falls he hides under his

      sheets, absolutely terrified. The

      snarling of Blubberhead the monster

makes his hair stand on end…

      Blubberhead, you’re such a bore!

      Get yourself outside that door!

But in reply, Blubberhead just keeps

snarling and growling. Luke pulls his

sheets up higher and higher – and

the worst thing is the night has only

       just begun!

Luke, still shaking with fear, can hear Quiltbury

the ghost creeping up on his bed. He knows it’s

him because he can hear the clanking of his chains.

       Quiltbury, get out of here!

I’m going to wet the bed in fear!

But Quiltbury doesn’t pay any attention, and

keeps moving towards Luke with his heavy chains.

Does he want to wrap them around him?

Things are getting pretty scary in Luke’s room: now it’s Verruca the witch

who’s trying to open his window with her broomstick!

      Verruca, please, just stay outside,

While I look for a place to hide!

But Verruca keeps trying to get into Luke’s bedroom; maybe she’s going to

turn him into some kind of horrible bug!

And when Luke had finally calmed

down a little, who should appear

       but Clankenstein, the evil monster

made of tin and wires who wanders

       all around the house.

Your clanking steps and clanking feet

Are making my heart miss a beat!
