iPad and iPad Pro For Dummies. Paul McFedries
accessories, let me direct you to Chapter 16.
I already mentioned that iPads don’t need a stylus, but sometimes you might want to use one anyway. If the Apple Pencil is too pricey for you, check out some of the many third-party options. Wacom sells various Bamboo Stylus models, starting around $15. It’s a potentially useful tool for those with too broad, oily, or greasy fingers, or those who sketch, draw, or jot notes. You can find lower-priced styluses as well.
Editing mistakes
I think typing with abandon, without getting hung up over mistyped characters, is a good idea. The self-correcting keyboard can fix many errors (and occasionally introduce errors of its own). That said, plenty of typos are likely to turn up, especially in the beginning, and you have to correct them manually.
A neat trick for doing so is to hold your finger on the line of text you want to edit. A cursor will appear, and you can then slide your finger to the spot to the right of where you need to make the correction. An even neater trick is to tap and hold down on the space bar, which effectively turns the entire keyboard into a virtual trackpad. You can then slide you finger not only left and right but also up and down to the spot to the right of where the correction is needed. Either way, you then use the Delete key (also called the Backspace key) to delete the error and tap whatever keys you need to type the correct text. And with that, you are hereby notified that you’ve survived basic training. The real fun is about to begin.
