About the Author
Janette Norton has lived in France (near Geneva) for over 30 years with her physicist husband, Alan, raising four children and working in the marketing field. Her love of mountain walking dates from the time she was a guide in her twenties, and the proximity of the Alps and Jura to her home has enabled her to continue her passion. Now her family has grown up, she has branched out to explore other areas of France.

Acknowledgements
I would like to thank my gang of faithful friends and family, who have come to walk with me many times over the past few years from Geneva and England. Without their support, advice and criticism this book could not have been written: Josephine Andorfer, Loulou Brown, Lynn Mermagen, Janet Locke, Ann Nicholson, Jill Robinson, Lorraine Ruffing, Alexa Stace and my sisters Hilary Birch from Nassau, Bahamas, and Julia Jamison from Paris.
My husband, Alan, accompanied me on many of the walks and read it all before it went to the publishers. My grown-up children, Rebecca, Joanna, Angus and Tanya, gave me the space to get on with it!
I am especially grateful to the tourist offices of Le Vigan and Florac, and particularly the offices of the Parc National des Cevennes in Florac, for advice and documentation.
