I still had to contribute in some sort of way. I was unable to do that on the field, so the new stadium plan presented an opportunity to be the spokesperson from the student athlete standpoint. I got to travel with our head coach, our AD, our President of the school. I didn’t get this experience because I was a star player, but more because I was available, with the team, and willing to help.
Sollazzo also suggested using summers wisely. He “always took summer classes” Impressively, Sollazzo followed his plan and graduated with a 4.0 GPA, went on to do graduate work, and is now well into a successful and rewarding professional career.
