Meditation, Prayer & Affirmation. Edgar Cayce
At other periods odors may aid, though these—too—may be as an emanation from the altars of sacrifice within self; or those postures that may bring into play the activity of them all.
(Q) In her daily life, is she able to discriminate between the divine guidance and that of desire?
(A) Every one may answer self in this. As He has so oft given, if ye will be silent—even though a moment—ye know. For it is not in the storm, nor in the rage, nor the tempest—but in the still small voice.

(Q) Will I benefit from lying daily 15 minutes on board with head lower than feet?
(A) If such a period is used as a period of meditation, very well; but the greater benefit will be obtained from the meditation! Though such a position, of course, will induce the flow of influences and forces through the system, by such a deep meditation.

(Q) What progress has been made toward absorption and elimination of the cataracts?
(A) These, as we find, are slow, yet sure, if there will be kept, not only the corrections made occasionally, once a month or such—might be the more often but the meditation; and in the meditation, don’t meditate upon, but listen to the voice within. For prayer is supplication for direction, for understanding. Meditation is listening to the Divine within.

Beware of those things as impressed on the mental attitude of body as respecting digestion; for these are things not to be lightly over-ridden; but the general application of self to such conditions are to respond. Then heed, and not be swayed by others to overload system when it should not be; especially with meats and sugars; for there exists—as has been given for the body—much of that as may be applied from within through the application of self to the psychic or mediumistic forces of the body. Well that these be heeded. Be not unmindful of the voices, nor of the visions as come to the inner self. Do not attempt to force such elements; else there is too much of the likelihood of interference from earth forces. Well that the body enter into meditation each evening at a specified time, place, and begin with the 14th chapter of John, and remember these words forward and backward unto the end of the 17th chapter, as has been set out. In this association, this sphere of communication, may there come none but those that are in accord with the proper and correct development of the inner man; for as this begins, “In my Father’s house are many mansions,” is spoken of self even as in the end, “Lo, I am with you, even unto the end of the world.” Make that presence ever felt within self. No evil may enter. We are through.

(Q) Please give advice that would help in those times when there is the beginning of Kundalini to rise or there is the circulation of Kundalini through the body. What should be the next step?
(A) Surround self with that consciousness of the Christ-Spirit; this by the affirmation of “Let self be surrounded with the Christ-Consciousness, and the directions be through those activities in the body-force itself.”
Do not seek the lower influences, but the Christ-Consciousness.

(Q) Exactly what happens to my physical body during meditation?
(A) In deep meditation there descends the influences to open the channels along those vistas, as has been given, to the inmost recesses of the Creative Forces in body, that arise then to the varied centers and find expression either through the movements of the body in the hearing of sound, in the consciousness of odors, in the activity of the vision, or there is just the presence that may be read as the open book. Or, to put in other terms, as has been given, the records of time and space—present and future—are upon those films that lie between time and space, and they become attuned to those forces of the Infinite as the cells of the body become attuned to the music of the realms of light and space and time.

(Q) Do I have sufficient understanding of the spiritual law to bring complete recovery from this apparent illness?
(A) As has been indicated, without this understanding the body would have collapsed long since! But there are energies lacking. The active forces and principles as indicated are just as divine as mental attitudes, and are at times necessary for completing the unison of activity of physical, mental and spiritual being.
(Q) Why does deep meditation seem to weaken me physically?
(A) Because there are those centers affected as indicated, through which connections or activity may be said to exist between the spiritual, mental and physical forces. Precautions need to be taken, then, as to overstimulating the activities of the superficial circulation as it coordinates with the mental and spiritual centers. For, deep activity in these directions brings to the body a headache, or a dizziness and a tiredness—which is because of a lack of complete coordination between the superficial and deeper circulation.

(Q) Is there a meditation that can be used for building the body and keeping it in good condition? Please explain how this might be accomplished?
(A) Just as the suggestions may be used that have been made to the body through some of the treatments outlined—the mind acts upon the resuscitating forces of the physical being, by and through suggestion. Just so there may be the realization that spiritual forces are a part of the whole physical being. For, the real being is the spiritual import, intent and purpose, see? Thus a meditation, a centralizing, a localizing of the mind upon those portions of the system affected, or upon the activities needed for the physical being, influences, directs the principal forces of the system. And it does resuscitate, if kept in sincerity; not merely said as rote, but that said being put into practical application through the experiences and associations with others—and especially this entity as it works with the developing minds, may see such reactions.
In the meditations, then, open the mind, the being, to the influences about same; surrounding self with the consciousness of the healing that is in the Christ-Consciousness, the Christ-awareness.
Thus:
Lord, use Thou me—my body, my mind—in such a way and manner that I, as Thy servant, may fill those lives and hearts and minds I meet—day by day—with such hope and faith and power in Thy might, that it may bring the awareness of Thy presence into the experience of others as well as myself.
Such as these will bring those forces and influences for helpful experiences for the body.

(Q) How may I bring into activity my pineal and pituitary glands, as well as the Kundalini and other chakras, that I may attain to higher mental and spiritual powers? Are there exercises for this purpose, and if there are, please give them.
(A) As indicated, first so fill the mind with the ideal that it may vibrate throughout the whole of the mental being!
Then, close the desires of the fleshly self to conditions about same. Meditate upon “Thy will with me.” Feel same. Fill all the centers of the body, from the lowest to the highest, with that ideal; opening the centers by surrounding self first
