Adventures of Space Cadets 101: Weddings. Darryl Dean Wright
all the Leonsians and their ships back at your world, so why can't you just do the same here, Admiral?" Daque folded his arms the same way the admiral did to prove his point.
Austen flat out said "No," and took a drink of whatever it was he was drinking. It smelt like tea but it had bubbles in it. He said, "We did what we had to do in the defense of our planet, but we do not believe in genocide. We will give you weapons and a ship if you want to go your way. But our way, everybody lives on a very nice planet."
Brion stopped shoveling food into his mouth and asked what the name of the planet was. Kirk said, "Kess, and it is really nice." Everybody at the table from Earth agreed with Kirk and told the Tauri that it was true.
Brion asked him, "Is that where you all are from?"
Kirk answered, "No, we all come from Earth and our lizard pals come from Lizarde. Earth is in another galaxy, but Lizarde is more or less in this same galaxy, give or take a million light-years. Kess is Earth-like and we go there all of the time. It is like our second home, and it could be your second home too."
Daque asked the admiral, "How many of us can you take at one time?"
Austen said, "Almost a million at a time, so we would have to make twenty trips or so."
Daque said, "I'll take the ship and weapons if you get my brother out of here safely." Brion was mad at that statement, but he was tired of running, and he did want it to stop. No one should live like this, he thought.
Austen said, "It is a Leonsian warship so the bad guys will be fooled into believing that it's one of theirs. As long as you don't fire on their fleet, you should be able to move about freely."
Daque said, "Don't worry; it'll be used in defense only, to save my people until you get back."
Austen kissed Amy's hand and said as he got up from the table, "Well, if we're through here, then Kirk and I will show you to the ship and explain to you how to fly it. But you're going to need about thirty more people to fly it well and use its capabilities. I will provide those people for now, and you will be their captain. I'll ask you nicely to take care of my people until I get back here."
Daque said, "I'm sure there are more of my people like me on the planet who might join me, and I will take good care of yours, Sir. I do hope you don't take too long in getting back here though."
Austen shook his hand and said, "I don't know, that town we picked you up in seemed like a ghost-town. Your people are pretty scattered about. Why is that? We haven't picked up any Leonsian ships nearby or even in space around your planet."
Daque said, "They bragged to a friend of mine that their fleet left to conquer a new world or blow it up. That is what they do. We stay fanned out so they don't get all of us in one place. That is what we do." His brother was agreeing with that statement.
Austen said, "Well they didn't conquer our world or blow it up because here we are."
Daque said, "There are two fleets now. You only destroyed half of their fleet, and if only just one ship survived your battle, they will launch a nova-bomb into your sun. If they lose, you lose. It is their way." Brion was nodding his head agreeing.
Chapter 7
HOW TO STOP A NOVA
Derek met with Captains Kester, Young, Turozski, Chung, Crighton and Ryker in the quantum forest because the pool area was crowded. He told everyone to find a chair as he sat down on the ground. Everybody followed suit, and he said, "Something new has come up and I need one volunteer for a simple mission." Everybody but Derek raised their hand in the air.
Derek said, "Alright Nick, initiation time; cowboy up. According to our new friends, our enemy shoots something called a nova-bomb into the sun of any world that kicks their asses."
Creighton asked, "Which enemy is that, Sir?"
The Admiral answered, "The Leonsians appear to be sore losers, but you are right, we have too many enemies."
Chung inquired, "But I thought we got them all, Sir?"
Derek said, "Did we…? We only scan from our world out and so does ED. The Lexington went missing, but I'm sure ED didn't care with all of their new ships. So what if one did get by them?" He let that sink in and then said, "We have to make sure, and we are too far out for communications." He had thought about leaving buoys from there to Earth in case that happened again.
Young said, "Those Basteroids wouldn't, would they?"
Derek said, "We can't take that chance. Nick, you will leave this time tomorrow. We are going to have to do some things to your ship or you'd go right now. You won't be alone. Tim Johnson was the volunteer captain from Austen's crew, so you'll have a wingman. He also has the same type ship you do." Nick had picked out a ship already and instantly fell in love with it.
Deana said, "I'm going too." She knew Derek was going to give her a hard time about it, but she wasn't going to give in.
Derek said to her, "No, you are not."
She said, "Oh yes I am and you can't stop me." And there was veiled malice in her tone.
Derek could, by keeping her from having a wingman, because it was a rule on the ship. They weren't arguing but the guys thought they were going to. Nick said, "She doesn't trust me."
Deana countered with, "It doesn't have anything to do with that. My mother is on Earth too. I'm going," She was raring to go even if she had to use emotional blackmail.
The fake sky was getting darker, and Derek knew that Deana was causing it. He thought he had her so he asked her, "What about a wingman, Captain?"
She pulled out her smart phone and pushed a button. A second later she said into the phone, "Hello, Captain SSSaa, the Leonsians are going to blow up Sol killing everybody on Earth. I leave this time tomorrow and I'm in need of a wingman. You in?" She waited a moment and said, "Thank you so much; see you soon." She put her phone away and smiled smugly at Derek.
Derek was curious and asked, "Well, what did he say?"
She said, "SSSSSSSSSSSSS…" As everyone was laughing, she joined in laughing, and the sky grew brighter.
Then she asked Captain Chung if she would be her pilot. Lee looked to the admiral for permission.
He nodded yes and said to Lee, "I'll just have the Turtle fly your ship while you are away." They all stood up to leave and Derek told the two volunteers to pick out their crews and grab some Nano-droids.
As everybody started to leave, Derek repeated that some things would have to be added to the four ships. Deana said to him privately, "Alright… By the way, was that our first fight?"
He said, "I hope not; that means I'll lose every time we fight."
She kissed him and left for the Q-bay. As she walked away she intentionally swung her hips in a sexy manner while Derek watched. She said to him behind her back, "You're a winner, Honey. Make up sex tonight or rather in the morning, Baby." He was thinking that the pleasure was all his.
In the morning, Nick and Deana were still getting their ships ready for the mission and picking out Nano-droids. They both selected twenty JR Nano-bots each, because they were quick and strong and very intimidating.
Derek had turned the Turtle over to Austen, and he was knocking on Deana's door. Lynn Jackson opened the door wearing only a bottomless "teddy." Derek said, "Wow, you look great! Deana's having you over again? He was looking at her dark elegant curvaceous features. He thought she was truly exotic, and he knew she was erotic.
Lynn said, "She said something about make-up sex, and I've been thinking about that throughout my shift and nothing else" As he talked with her he entered, and Lynn shut the door behind them. She asked him if he wanted anything to drink but he declined. She grabbed his hand and led him to Deana's bedroom saying that he would definitely need something to drink. Toni was there wearing the bottom half of the "teddy," and she was lying on the far side of the bed with her right hand holding her head above the pillow. She gave him a modest wave hello. She
