is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
Michelangelo Buonarroti-La tentazione di Adamo ed Eva
These verses give us a glimpse into the perfect living environment of Adam and Eve before the Fall. God provided everything necessary for their sustenance and enjoyment --food, water, and other natural resources. And God gave man the responsibility to manage these resources. Originally God had intended humanity to live forever, but after the fall, Adam and Eve were prevented from eating of the Tree of Life so they would not live forever in their sinful condition. (Gen 2:22-24)
