From the College
“Angelo State University provides a strong academic experience while offering significant financial support to students. As a result, the university’s academic quality and low student-faculty ratio (19-1) prepare students for success in their chosen professions or acceptance to graduate and professional school, such as medicine and law.” Because of major scholarship and gift aid support which does not have to be repaid like many academic loans, ASU boasts one of the nation’s lowest student debt burdens upon graduation.
“The school emphasizes producing students who can think critically, adapt to a changing world and succeed in various environments. ASU appeals to those who want a more rigorous academic experience through the school’s Honors Program, and to those who want to study abroad through the International Studies Program that provides a more global experience while keeping costs within reach.
“ASU has the only Physics Department in Texas ranked in the top 20 among undergraduate programs nationwide and a nationally recognized Biology Department which in 2007 became the first department in the nation to have its biology honor society named the top chapter in the nation a record six times.
“The university is organized with six colleges: Business; Education; Liberal and Fine Arts; Nursing and Allied Health; Sciences and Graduate Studies as well as 21 academic departments. Those departments offer 40 undergraduate programs, 23 graduate programs, including a doctorate, and one associate degree as well as nearly 100 majors. As a member of the Texas Tech University System, ASU provides options for a variety of pre-professional and two-plus-two and four-plus-one programs with Texas Tech. ASU draws students from practically every county in Texas (215 of 254) as well as from 37 states and 21 countries. With more than half of its graduates as first generation
