After the Ritual, preferably within three days, the token is given to John so that he can carry it with him at all times. He is reminded that although magic works it is not necessarily instant, and he should not expect the next person he meets to necessarily be ‘the one’! He is also told that, once the magic has worked, he can dispose of the token by burning it (carefully) or by burying it in the earth.
NOTE ON CANDLE MAGIC
Whilst any candle used for magic should be allowed to burn all the way down it should never be left unattended. If you cannot supervise the candle until its end you can either burn it over three successive nights, or pass it to your ‘client’ to do so themselves.
FULL MOON (ESBAT) RITUAL
Sue is approaching her final nursing exams and has asked for help. She knows she has worked hard and has the knowledge, but she tends to get anxious and flustered during tests. She has been asked to provide a small flat piece of agate. The day before the Ritual the agate was washed in rainwater and placed on a windowsill (inside) overnight in the light of the Full Moon, to cleanse it.
In addition, you need on your Altar:
SUE’S AGATE
SOME ROSEMARY OIL
A VERY FINE PAINTBRUSH (AN EYELINER BRUSH WORKS REALLY WELL FOR THIS KIND OF DELICATE WORK)
Prepare the working space.*
Communicate the purpose of the Ritual.*
Set the Altar.*
Create the Sacred Space.*
Rite of Banishing Unwanted Influences.*
Drawing Down the Moon.*
After the Charge the High Priestess reminds everyone why they are present. She takes the agate and consecrates it through the elements for Sue.*
Then, taking the oil and brush she paints a caduceus (two serpents entwined around a staff, a universal symbol of healers) onto it with the oil before asking the blessing of the Goddess as Mother, and God as All-Father.*
The High Priestess then takes the agate and passes it to the person on her left. They hold it in their hand and speak aloud an aspect of the spell for Sue. This could be, ‘to remember knowledge’, ‘to be free from nerves’, ‘to achieve her potential as a healer’, and so on. The agate is passed around until everyone has placed a thought into it. When it reaches the High Priestess again, she should add any aspect(s) she feels the others may have missed before placing it back onto the Altar.
Everyone will dance and chant to raise power,* which the High Priestess will direct into the stone, to be given to Sue to carry with her up to and through her exam period.
The Rite of Wine and Cakes is performed.*
The Sacred Space is removed.*
Grounding.*
Tidy Away.*
WAXING MOON RITUAL
Jane has been ill for some time and her doctor is sending her for tests in two days. You feel the need to take action now as working before a disease has been formally diagnosed often results in a minor and easily cured problem, rather than a major one, being identified. You have never met Jane and know nothing of her other than a brief physical description and her date of birth.
