to Wimmenau.
The path crosses a vehicle track, then drops down to join a more major track on the right. Carry straight on, but look out for the next junction. Not far along the track the GR53 leaves to the right along a small footpath through open pine woodland. Follow this as it merges with another path and soon leads out onto a road. Turn left here, but after a few hundred metres a GR sign points along the first track to the right.
Forest track beyond Lichtenberg
Turn left towards Wimmenau at a T-junction, then at the next junction carry on along the more minor track straight ahead. After a few minutes the route leaves by a well-signed path to the right.
Follow on through the forest for about half an hour, eventually reaching a substantial track where the GR route is directed left for just a few dozen metres before leaving to the right. The first houses of Wimmenau come into sight through the trees. The route crosses a road then continues along a footpath. Fork right to follow alongside the railway embankment.
The track leads into Wimmenau. Turn left and continue over the level crossing into the centre of the village, passing a baker’s, then the village shop. On reaching the D157, cross over the River Moder to gain the D919.
